On October 10, 2023, we conducted a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to dive into the findings from the pilot test of the MIROS Motorcycle Collision Alert System (MCAS). This discussion marked a unique convergence of various stakeholders, including pilot project participants, industry experts, government regulators, and media representatives—everyone united by a common goal: to improve motorcycle safety for all.

The Unexpected Success of MCAS Pilot Test
The pilot test of the MCAS has yielded promising results, collecting crucial insights about user experiences. Participants shared what they appreciated about the system and offered constructive feedback for enhancements.
Users particularly praised the early warning features. For instance, riders reported their appreciation on the system capability that allowed them to avoid potential collisions. The use of MCAS may help improve this statistic, actively targeting the collisions caused by a lack of situational awareness.
While there was an overwhelming consensus on the system's benefits, participants also identified areas needing improvement. Suggestions included enhancing the user interface to make it even more intuitive and user centered.

User Acceptance Insights
Improving and sustaining user acceptance emerged as a focal point during the discussion. Awareness was another critical aspect raised in the discussion. Currently, many motorcyclists may not fully aware of MCAS and understand how collision alert systems work or the safety benefits they offer. By launching targeted educational campaigns, MIROS could increase awareness and trust in this significant technology.

Recommendations for a Sustainable Solution
As the conversation deepened, sustainability of MCAS became a prominent topic. Given the fast-paced evolution of technology, it is crucial that MCAS continuously adapts to user feedback and industry trends.
Establishing ongoing relationships with governmental and advocacy organizations is vital for adapting regulations that support safe motorcycle use.
By presenting clear data showing a reduction in motorcycle accidents linked to MCAS usage, MIROS could strengthen its case for continued funding.
Looking Ahead: A Collective Endeavor for Safety
The FGD on October 10 served as a launching point for a transformative approach to motorcycle safety through the MIROS Motorcycle Collision Alert System. By leveraging the insights from participants, the technology can be refined to have a meaningful impact on the riding community.
The enthusiasm shared within this gathering indicates readiness for innovation in motorcycle safety. As industry professionals and regulators collaborate, solutions like MCAS can pave the way for safer journeys. Understanding strengths and addressing targeted growth areas will be key to realizing this vision.

Ultimately, discussions like those held at the FGD could shape future decisions regarding motorcycle safety. The commitment to innovation and higher safety standards has never been more important. By working together, we stand on the edge of a crucial safety revolution for powered two-wheelers.
With open lines of communication and a collaborative spirit, the message from the FGD resonates clearly: the future of motorcycle safety is promising. Together, we can forge a safer riding environment for every motorcyclist out there.
